How can I buy something?

How can I buy something?

On Catawiki, many sellers offer their collectibles in their own shop. For each item in the catalogue, you can see exactly who is offering it for sale and you can immediately see the various conditions and prices for which it is being offered.

You can buy something on Catawiki in three different ways:

1

Through the marketplace.

2

Through the catalogue.

3

Through the shop list.

Click on the item you want to buy. The page shows information about the item and some buttons to order the selected item directly or to add it to your cart of that shop if you want to continue shopping. Also, you can ask the seller for more information about the item through the displayed link 'Ask a question'. The further contact and possible sale goes directly between you and the seller.

Frequently asked questions about buying

How can I shop using the catalogue?

In the catalogue's photo gallery, a basket icon indicates if an item is being offered by a seller.
Example If it is on offer, just click the item in the gallery. You are taken to a page with the details of the item. At the top of the page, after "In shop of" you will see the names of the various sellers. If there are a lot of sellers, a link will be shown that can be expanded to show all sellers for a certain condition. For example "6 x New Condition, 3 x Good condition, 1 x Reasonable condition". Click this link and you will see all sellers. Example item for sale

Make your choice based on the condition offered and the selling prices already stated. Click the seller of your choice; this takes you to their shop and the particular item. This item can immediately be bought with the orange "Order now" button, or you can add it to your shopping cart with the blue "Add" button. That lets you continue shopping in the shop and perhaps also buy other items. Example item for sale

If an item is in the catalogue but is not yet for sale, then the text "Not yet for sale" is shown on the page with details about the item, after "In the shop". If you are looking for it then you can add it to your wish list from there using the field on the right. You get an instant notification when anyone offers it in their shop.

What is the advantage of buying in a "Pro shop"?

User pro We distinguish between professional and private sellers. Professional sellers get 'pro' after their name if they have indicated their Chamber of Commerce (or foreign equivalent) number and their (actual) address in their Catawiki shop.

Buying from commercial sellers gives buyers extra benefits due to a number of legal assurances and guarantees. The biggest difference is that as a buyer you have the right to return a product within 7 days and receive the purchase price back. In addition, the seller must deliver the order within 30 days. If this takes longer, the buyer has the right to reverse the sale.

Professional sellers may belong to a specific sector organization. In that case, we will mention this. This often gives you extra security as a buyer.

Where can I find a list of all shops?

When do you provide positive, neutral and negative feedback?

Tip: always try to find a solution first together with the seller. Only give neutral or negative feedback if the seller did not respond at all or was not able to meet you part way.

POSITIVE
You're happy with how the transaction went, or the seller and you found a good solution to any problem.

NEUTRAL
You can provide neutral feedback if you did not came to a totally satisfactory solution with the seller, because:

  • the sale failed because the shipping costs appeared to be too high
  • the item does not appear to be available
  • the seller was not always easily accessible. Note: someone might be temporarily unavailable due to holidays, illness etc.

NEGATIVE

  • The item appears to be quite different to what was described and the seller has offered no solution, or is not taking the item back.
  • The delivery time was way too long.
