Many years ago I started collecting all kinds of things: shares and bonds (USA and Dutch certificates, preferably pre-1900), coins and old postcards (Dutch, pre 1905) are the main subjects of my collection. A short wile ago I stopped with collecting postcards and certificates to be able to concentrate on USA coins, especially early American coppers.
