The mechanics behind clocks, and all the moving parts, still fascinate me, even now.
His grandfather was a clockmaker, his father was a clockmaker and Martin Hamstra... is also a clockmaker. His earliest memories are of his father’s workshop, where he was fascinated by the complicated mechanisms behind the clock. He helped with repairs and restorations for pocket money and was soon fascinated by the profession. After his precision mechanics studies, Martin began his own clock repair and restoration business. He has always been involved in the antiques trade and also collects antique English travel clocks.
Through his interest and vast experience, Martin knows pretty much everything to do with clocks. And his technical knowledge enables him to estimate their value at a glance. As an auctioneer, he also knows how to put together a good selection, in which he alternates modern clocks with stylish mantel clocks and entirely handmade mechanical clocks, which run precisely on time without electricity. True works of art are included in the exclusive clock auction, which no collector can miss.
Ends Sunday from 14:00 CET onwards
