I’m completely fascinated by the enormous variety of wines.
Guido Mascini’s love of good wine started when he opened his own restaurant. Many wine importers approached him and introduced him to a wide range of quality wines. He was really fascinated by the differences in the various wines, both when it came to taste and price. He wanted to know more! After various wine courses and visits to wine chateaus in Europe and Africa, Guido could call himself a true connoisseur. After selling his restaurant he worked at various auction houses. In addition to being an auctioneer, he also has a coordinating role for the wine, port and whiskey auctions at Catawiki.
Guido Mascini is responsible for the organisational aspects and, together with the auctioneers, is always looking for any opportunities for new or themed auctions. He relies on the expertise of the auctioneers to present a tasteful selection of wines each week. He himself is a huge fan of a Kanonkop ‘Paul Sauer’, but a rare whiskey or a good wine from 2010 – a stunning year for wine – is also welcome at one of his auctions.
