My dad used to say: a watch is the most beautiful jewellery a man can wear.
Jamie Brindle's love for watches runs in the family. His father loved to wear beautiful watches and when he was thirteen years old he received his first Timex watch as a Christmas gift. That was quite a big deal at the time, but as he grew older, the more exclusive watches began to appeal to him. He was a stallholder at the well-known Bermondsey antiques market in London for years, where he bought and sold watches. There he learnt a lot and has established a vast network. Since then, Jamie Brindle opened his own jewellery shop which has been going for eleven years, specialising in watches. With more than 25 years of trade experience, Jamie Brindle has acquired an extensive knowledge of watches which he gladly puts to good use at Catawiki. He now knows exactly what to pay attention to when appraising watches. The clockwork itself is especially important to examine. It could indicate whether the watch is in good condition, and the manufacturer always adds his own characteristics to the clockwork. Despite his vast knowledge, auctioneer Jamie Brindle is taken by surprise on a daily basis by interesting submissions, such as decent quality watches from Eastern Europe which are popular in the UK, and limited editions from his favourite brands.
