I’m really obsessed with my profession; it’s the first thing I think about when I wake up and it’s the last thing I think of when I go to bed.
From the moment an 11 year old Jeroen Zoetmulder walked around for hours with a metal detector in his hand, he has been fascinated by archaeology. He recovered old coins and utensils on a daily basis, objects that he subsequently wanted to know everything about. This curiosity quickly brought him into contact with archaeologists and collectors, who loved to share their knowledge with him. For a career in archaeology, Jeroen Zoetmulder had a really strong business instinct. That’s why he became specialised as a certified appraiser. He expanded his practical knowledge by working for various fairs, antique stores and auction houses.
Jeroen Zoetmulder uses all of his experience to assemble exciting and varied auctions. With his varied listings, he introduces enthusiasts to a wide array of objects. He also likes to incorporate trends, which offer buyers and sellers incredible international opportunities. That, he says, is the real power of Catawiki. Jeroen Zoetmulder is very proud when more and more unique and exclusive objects are offered up for auction. He gets the greatest adrenaline rush when a beloved object is sold to a new collector, who will enjoy it just as much as its previous owner.
