For my collection of tribal art I travelled the whole world.
Leonor Arnó Pons has always been fascinated by foreign cultures and their artistic expressions. Here and there she already bought some ethnic and tribal jewellery, but only when she went backpacking in India at age 20 she really started to collect tribal objects. Whilst working as a manager of a gallery for 25 years, she kept collecting items. Ultimately, Leonor Arnó Pons chose to follow her passion and she started trading and selling tribal and ethnic jewellery in her own online store. She travelled the whole world for her work and saw how these objects were really used. This gave her the insight and knowledge that are essential for a good valuation.
The knowledge and experience that Leonor Arnó Pons has acquired now comes together at Catawiki, where she takes care of the ethnic jewellery auction. In her auctions she makes a clear distinction between modern jewellery and the rarer, antique jewellery. Although both are produced with the necessary craftsmanship, antique jewellery is especially appealing to collectors. Leonor Arnó Pons does extensive research to retrieve the origin of the objects, locating them with 1 kilometre accuracy. Her travel experience and her own collection are indispensable here. If she is unable to retrieve an object's origin, she delves into her large collection of reference works and catalogues.
