Stamps are like other antiques, but made of paper.
Mark Fodden was inspired by his grandmother to collect stamps at a young age. She used to receive letters from relatives with the most exotic stamps which sparked Mark's imagination. He started collecting and has continued to do so his whole life. He never thought he could make a career out of it until one of his best friends, a renowned stamp merchant, asked him to come and work for him at the then emerging online trading venues. This way he got to know the (online) market thoroughly and made many contacts in the British and international stamp world.
The knowledge and experience gained by Mark Fodden in twenty years make him a thorough auctioneer. He has developed a trained eye to analyse postage stamps. He considers all the details to estimate the right price and to make the description as accurate as possible. This way, Mark Fodden tries to win the trust of the British collectors. This seems to be working as collectors are becoming increasingly familiar with Catawiki’s auctions, offering a growing number of interesting, valuable and rare postage stamps.
