I love to talk about the long and short stories behind an artwork.
From a young age, Aude Fonlupt visited as many art markets, museums and fairs as possible. When she first walked into an auction house, she knew she only wanted one thing: to become an auctioneer. She took the necessary courses, which in France can take as long as ten years. Even so, Aude Fonlupt was one of the youngest auctioneers to lead the auctions at the Parisian Hôtel Drouot, a task which she took up for more than three years. Over those years she has built a vast network and appraised thousands of objects, which has given her an abundance of knowledge and experience.
As an auctioneer, Aude Fonlupt still feels the rush of the auction every day; now at Catawiki. This rush starts when she appraises the lots and ends only when the auction has come to an end. If possible, she would love to report the course of events of the auction live and tell the potential bidders the beautiful stories behind the well-known and lesser known art works. Apart from being an auctioneer, Aude Fonlupt also feels like a promoter of Catawiki. On a daily basis, she heads out to enthuse her network about the auctions she assembles. This way, she hopes to gain the trust of the French art market, so she can keep offering up more and more beautiful works in her auctions.
