Fashion and art are one of the same thing to me.
Fashion has always been Clementine Robert's passion. She took an interest in clothing and jewellery from a young age. She knew that fashion was her calling when she helped organise a fashion show, but she didn't yet know in what way. That's why she decided to follow her other passion: art. When Clementine Robert was put in charge of the fashion collection at Christie's after graduating in History of Art, her two passions finally came together. After that she worked at the renowned auction houses Artcurial and Sotheby's, before coming to Catawiki. For Clementine Robert, art and fashion are one of the same; they both require creativity and craftsmanship and can evoke strong emotions amongst their audience. That's why she approaches both fields in the same way. Clementine Robert looks at the stitching, the fabric and the little details that inform her about the origin and value of the objects in the same way an art historian would look at the back of a painting. She loves including items by Yves Saint Laurent or Hermès in her auctions, but the most important criteria for success will always be whether she would include the item in her own wardrobe.
