It's hard not to fall in love with all those beautiful books.
Already as a toddler, Francesco Magnani started reading and never stopped. He mostly read books from his father's collection, who owned a publishing house. No children's books, but essays and classical works with beautiful illustrations. Over the years, his fascination with language and books only grew. Thanks to his study of classical languages, he easily reads ancient Greek and Latin. These skills are indispensable for Francesco Magnani's work in the family business, a highly regarded antiquarian bookshop for classical and cultural works. Through his work, he has built an enormous network in the Italian book world and knows the market like no other.
Francesco Magnani knows exactly what collectors like to have in their bookcases. Travel journals, naturalistic works with beautiful illustrations and scientific books, which do particularly well on Catawiki. These must preferably be in good condition, with a special cover and complete contents to earn the highest amounts. According to Francesco Magnani, every manuscript or monograph is a lovely work from times when printing presses were not yet self-evident. Therefore, he ensures that every description is correct so that every book gets the opportunity to tell its own unique story.
