Curating an auction feels like you are conducting an exciting exploration.
Annick van Itallie grew up in The Hague's antiquarian district (The Netherlands), where she was fascinated every day by the many shop windows with special items. She is especially fascinated by the way objects are presented and how that reinforced the objects. A study of art history specialising in museology was therefore a perfect match. After a trip to the US, where she worked for various museums and as an art director for movies, Annick van Itallie opened her own shop in Amsterdam. She called it her 'Cabinet of Curiosities'. The shop doors have now been closed, but with her 'Cabinet of Curiosities' she still visits major international fairs with great success.
At Catawiki, Annick van Itallie’s knowledge and creativity come together in a perfect way. With her trading experience, she knows exactly what's in demand and what it's worth. In her auctions therefore, there is room for a wide range of items as long as they offer authenticity, quality and originality. With her creative character, she knows to curate intriguing auctions, with varied objects that compliment each other. Annick van Itallie feels like a true conductor, who sends her bidders on an exciting journey of discovery.
