Catawiki is an original way to keep working on my passion for antiques
As his father was an antiques dealer, Benoit grew up at the famous flea market ‘Les Puces’ in Paris and was always surrounded by antiques. In 1988, when he was a teenager, he bought an orange lamp from the 70s and hence fell in love with this decade and its pop creations. Since then he has collected thousands of pieces of vintage design and rare furniture from this period.
During these 30 years of experience, Benoit has become an expert himself whilst creating a private collection of furniture by famous designers from the 70s, with unique pieces by Verner Panton, Luigi Colani, Quasar Khanh and Joe Colombo.
According to Benoit, ‘Catawiki is an original way to keep working on my passion for antiques’. Catawiki allows Benoit to screen different kinds of lots and to use his knowledge and experience to offer users the best original pieces of vintage furniture and post-war design furniture.
Benoit explains that since we cannot know everything about a certain piece of furniture or time period of design, he is thankful that through Catawiki he is able to keep on learning with every single lot he checks. This is only positive for our users who can trust that the pieces offered in Benoit's auctions are truly unique and that every auction will be like a real treasure hunt every week.
