Anke Sperling

Expert Art (modern)

For me, fine art is not about beauty but about a deeper understanding why this art piece was created.

The most stunning pieces of modern art brought to you by Anke Sperling

Since Anke Sperling was a child she had a deep passion for architecture. When she was younger she was mainly interested in the architecture of the Middle Ages. During her studies of art history, Anke fell in love with the Renaissance architecture theory. From then on she understood the existence and beauty of contemporary architecture and her love for paintings of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and modern art developed very quickly.

Anke graduated her studies of art history and medieval as a Magistra Artium (M.A.). After that, she worked for different museums, in different auction houses and worked for Auctionata (a closed online auction house) as one of the leading experts of the contemporary art department. She is also an art consultant working with famous artists.
Anke has also continually worked as a conservator in an auction house during her studies, so she has a lot of experience with various techniques and materials.

Anke joined Catawiki as a modern art expert in March 2020, believing that the online art market is the future. She is now excited to bring her broad knowledge into the Catawiki auctions and enjoys learning something new about art, artists, techniques and scenes every day. Using this knowledge to make adequate valuations and descriptions for the offered lots is essential to her in making the sellers content with their sales while also meeting the expectations of buyers.
