Leopold Maximiliaan Felix Timmermans (Lier, July 5, 1886 - there, January 24, 1947) was a Flemish writer and poet. He was one of Flanders' most translated and prolific authors. His best-known work is his novel Pallieter. Timmermans also wrote under the pseudonym Polleke van Mher. He was self-taught and wrote plays, novels with a historical character, novellas, works of religion and poems. In addition to being a writer, Timmermans was also a painter and draftsman. He illustrated his own books and some of his colleague and friend Ernest Claes. He was also the binding designer for most of his books. Timmermans died in Lier at the age of sixty.
