Catalogue information
Written in verse by Willem Wilmink, illustrated by forty draftsmen. A frame has been cut into the front of the dust jacket, through which the title (gold stamp on blue cloth binding) is visible. The signatures and fingerprints of all draughtsmen are printed on the flyleaves and throughout the book. All illustrations have been made especially for this edition, with the exception of those of Max Velthuijs (from "The good monster and the robbers" 1976), Jean Dulieu (from "Paulus en skipper Mackerel", 1964) and Carl Hollander (from "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves ", 1983). The color illustrations were supplied as separate prints (in an envelope) and could be stuck on the corresponding right-hand pages by means of an adhesive strip. Below each illustration is a biography of the respective illustrator. Original idea, composition and editing: Ida Schuurman and Truuske Vrooland-Löb. This book was only for sale at De Bijenkorf (for NLG 29.95), on the occasion of their Youth Book Month (October 4-28, 1995)
