Pre-published in "La Libre Belgique" under the title "Les Aventures de Bessy" (from 24/12/1952 - 04/03/1953). Unlike the Dutch-language album, it was the first song in the French-language series to be released. Vandersteen released this first (and second) album independently: Les Éditions Bessy. When publishing house "Erasme" took over the distribution and publishing of the Bessy series, this printer's imprint was quickly covered with a sticker that said "Les Éditions Erasme S.A." (see Figure 3).
