Original editorial cartoon on board in pen and ink, published in the London Evening News, 1937, as one of the ‘London Laughs’ series, shows a man emerging from the ‘Chemical Society’, bandaged up and the worse for wear, saying to a colleague ‘Well I think my little experiment successfully exploded my opponent’s stupid theory’. Board size 53 x 38 cm (21 x 15 inch), image size 48 x 35 cm, signed lower left, typed caption pasted on in lower border and dated 8-1-37, numbered 816, minor staining and pieces of board broken off at corners and right edge, otherwise in good condition.
