A rare antique Dutch 4-inch diameter table globe Age: positively identifies as 1912. Description: Rare ! Very sought after by globe collectors as well as tin toys collectors. Used as a school equipment in the mathematician geography class for the students, to learn about ecliptic, moon & sun positions, zodiac etc. A rare Dutch 4-inch diameter table globe AARDGLOBE door C.L. VAN BALEN and J. MULDER, Sold byJ.B. Wolters Groningen Den Haag.. Late 19th/early 20th Century Made up of twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial and Greenwich meridian graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in degrees 0-360 with sigils for the houses of the Zodiac, the continents variously and brightly coloured, with a painted tin meridian circle graduated in four quadrants, contained in a tin drum-shaped table stand, the painted horizon showing degrees, days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac, and compass directions, the side of the drum painted with astronomical diagrams The uniqueness of this terrestrial globe is enhanced by the presence of the original packing box with label.
