Details

During a British air raid on the Wilton Fijenoord shipyard in Schiedam (the Netherlands), where the ship was undergoing overhaul, the Cobra was hit by a bomb on 27 August 1942 (approx. 5:00 PM), capsized and sank. Four crew were killed. Cobra was a cruise ship and passed away on January 14, 1926 at the Vulcan shipyard in Stettin. Elegance and white paint made the Cobra the "Swan of the North Sea". In August 1939, a few days before the German attack on Poland, the Cobra was requisitioned by the navy and converted into a mining ship.
