The TurboGrafx is the USA version of the PC Engine. Because of reasons the are not quite clear (marketing ?) it is slightly larger than the (very small) PC Engine. Later versions are the CoreGrafx I and CoreGrafx II. None of these units were officially released in Europe. All versions are NTSC (no PAL versions exist). The PC Engine and all other versions use HuCards (Hudson card). This are credit-card sized ROM storage units. Later a CD-ROM expansion module was released (the PC-Engine was the first videogame console that used CD’s). The PC Engine/TurboGrafx was a moderate success, especially in Japan, but eventually lost customers to the 16 bit Sega Genesis and Nintendo SNES. Later versions had a built in CD-Rom player (Duo, Turbo Duo). The PC Engine GT/TurboExpress and PC Engine LT were portable units. Finally a slightly faster unit, the Super Grafx) was released. The successor was the PC-FX which was only released in Japan.
