The Sega Mega-CD is a CD-Rom player on top of which a Mega Drive can be attached. It allows to play CD-Rom games on a classic Mega Drive. It was released in Japan in 1991, in the USA in 1992 and finally in Europe in 1993. Two versions were produced : - The Mega CD 1 (shown here). This is a front loading system for the Mega Drive1/Genesis1 - The Mega CD 2. This is a top loader for the Genesis 2/Mega Drive 2 It was not very popular because of the release of more advanced 32 bit CD-Rom consoles.
