The exposition was held in 1975 (Showa 50) in Motobu Town, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, with the theme "The Sea - The Future My Heart Yearns For". The Okinawa International Marine Exposition (Japanese: おきなわこくさいかいようはくらんかい) was one of the commemorative events held after the return of Okinawa to Japan to commemorate the return of Okinawa Prefecture.
