MINOLTA Auto Rokkor-PF 55mm f/1.8 (Minolta SR Mount)
Designer: Minolta
Hello from Japan!
We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world.
The Minolta Auto Rokkor-PF 55mm f/1.8 holds a special place in the company's history. It was the standard lens introduced in 1958 together with the SR-2, the very first camera of Minolta's new SR single-lens-reflex system, and it remained Minolta's core "normal" lens through several iterations into the mid-1960s. In Minolta's Rokkor naming, the suffix letters denote the optical construction — here five groups and six elements — a classic double-Gauss formula. "Auto" refers to the automatic diaphragm (the aperture stays open for composing and closes to the chosen value at the moment of exposure), not to autofocus; this is a fully manual-focus lens. It is loved for the warm rendering and smooth out-of-focus areas that early Rokkor glass is known for, and as the lens that launched Minolta's SLR line it carries real collector appeal. Made in Japan.
Mount and compatibility
Minolta SR mount (the manual-focus bayonet later known as the MC / MD mount), manual focus. It mounts natively on all of Minolta's manual-focus SLR bodies from the SR, SR-T, X, XE, XD and XG families. On modern mirrorless cameras — Sony E, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds, Canon RF / EF-M, Nikon Z and others — it can be used with a simple Minolta SR/MD mount adapter while retaining infinity focus. This is a fully manual lens: both focus and aperture are set on the lens itself, and it is not compatible with Minolta/Sony autofocus A-mount cameras.
Condition: USED — Excellent
Pre-owned, distinct signs of use.
Serial Number
Please check the photo.
Appearance
The lens shows scuffs and some paint wear consistent with its age and regular use, mainly on the focusing ring and around the edges. Please check the photos for details.
Optical Condition
Fungus: None.
Haze: There is slight haze, including a slight haze on the rear element.
Scratches: There are some light cleaning/wiping marks.
Balsam separation: None.
Dust: Almost none.
The glass is in clean condition for its age, and in normal shooting the slight haze does not have a significant effect on images.
Functional
Focus: The helicoid turns smoothly.
Aperture: The aperture blades are clean and move properly.
Bundled Items
This is for the lens only. No caps, hood, or filter are included.
