Seventh edition, appreciated because it is considered the luxury edition, printed in a very large octavo format in 4 volumes, including 5 maps that were kept in an atlas for the 8 volume edition. The text is based on that of the 6th from 1837-38 in part original since expanded with new notes and an appendix containing descriptive and historical details on all of the recently raised monuments in the capital by J-L. Belin.
Illustrated with 5 maps of Paris enhanced in colour and 57 tipped-in engravings on steel based on Rouargue.
Romantic red half calfskin bindings, smooth spine adorned with the title and a decoration of gilded leaves and tooling.
Decorative set, sturdy bindings, the leather is slightly faded, damage with a tear on the headcap of volume 1. Interior in very good condition, as is often the case there is scattered foxing. Some blank pages brownish. The fold-out maps have tears due to handling, the large map in volume 4 has large tears, nothing missing.
