A lovely copy of La Cuisinière Bourgeoise, whose anonymous author is called "Menon".
It is one of the best known and most frequently reissued cookbooks, with hundreds of recipes and food preparations as well as beer and wine making, ingredients and cooking strategies.
By using less seasonings and cheaper ingredients, the recipes were affordable for the middle class. This cookbook is considered to be the first intended specifically for the female cook. It has been the most reprinted cookbook for more than a century and the only one published before 1789 to be reissued post-1800.

The binding is in good condition, visible splits in the book’s joints, nevertheless a sturdy binding, blunt corners, decorated spine with raised bands, gilded titling and volume number on morocco label.
Good condition inside, one torn endpaper, a little dirty, marbled endpapers, lovely banners and dropcaps.
