Desiderio Avignonesi "25 years" "Limited Edition" historical labels Toscana Merlot IGT 2013 -
RENAISSANCE as the expression of our vineyards after the conversion to Biodynamics ...
Wines with a muscular profile, full colors, authoritative on the palate, even more futuristic. The intense spring rains have reduced the fruit setting capacity. The summer with balanced temperatures opened an autumn where the alternation of rain and sun characterized a difficult and intermittent harvest. The return of the Grandi Annate counts it among the most important vintages for Avignonesi.
Desiderio is the name of a bull who lived on the Le Capezzine farm in Avignonesi over a hundred years ago, and which became something of a legend. In fact, at the time, Desiderio was the largest bull in all of Tuscany, and thanks to its extraordinary genes, this majestic animal helped to perfect and define the Chianina cattle breed, typical of our region.
When, over 25 years ago, the company began producing a merlot-based wine, it was natural to dedicate it to this beloved bull, as a symbol of the origins of the wine and its powerful and voluptuous character.
SCORE 95/100 PARKER
Tenuta San Guido - Le Difese 2017:
Le Difese di Tenuta San Guido is a red wine that contaminates the local soul of the Sangiovese grape, with the Bordeaux reminder of Cabernet Sauvignon, masterfully bred in the Bolgheri area by the noble cellar, on soils with a strong presence of limestone areas rich in marl, stony and partially clayey, up to 300 meters above sea level.
Tenute Ornellaia - Le Volte 2017:
From the best terroirs of Tuscany comes this Toscana Rosso IGT "Le Volte dell’Ornellaia" by Ornellaia. It wonderfully manages to combine the generous and opulent Mediterranean expression, with intense and complex connotations. Soft and structured, but also lively and intact in the fruit, it is aged for ten months in barrique, not for the first time. It proves to be perfectly aligned with the company's excellent quality standards.
Tenute Folonari: Campo al Mare Bolgheri 2019
Starting in 1999, the Folonari family began buying land in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, in the province of Livorno, near the Tyrrhenian Sea, falling within the Bolgheri DOC production area, thus Campo al Mare was born. It is an area that enjoys a very favorable climate, regulated by the nearby Tyrrhenian Sea. The clayey / sandy soils look to the sea and have delicate slopes towards it, a territory that has shown, for some years now, a particular predisposition to enhance the classic vines used in the Bordeaux area. This Bolgheri Rosso DOC is obtained from merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and petit verdot, with a long maceration on the skins, and maturation in 500 lt French oak tonneau for about 12 months. In the Bolgheri area where Cabernet Sauvignon is the most cultivated variety, Campo al Mare stands out for its original use mostly of Merlot, which gives the wine a softer and more enveloping character.
