Signed by Pierre Carrier Belleuse in the bottom right-hand corner with the year 1917.
This frame has never been disassembled.
Some stains, most likely located on the glass. The cardboard is ripped on the back of the painting. Canvas in perfect condition in the back. This painting was part of a lot of 2 portraits of Major General. The 2nd painting was purchased by the Rochefort Museum.
Pierre Gérard Albert Carrier de Belleuse, a.k.a Pierre Carrier-Belleuse, born on January 28th, 1851 in Paris, and died in the same city on January 29th, 1932, was a French painter. He is the author of many portraits of opera dancers. He is also credited with three panoramas.
