The son of a wealthy family, Raymond Thibésart was born in Bar-sur-Aube on May 2, 1874. Shortly afterwards, his parents moved to Enghien-les-Bains, in the immediate suburbs of Paris. It is there that the Thibésarts met a Venezuelan family that had just arrived in France, the Boggios. Very gifted in drawing, Thibésart admired Emile Boggio, 17 years his senior, who gave him his first lessons when he was eleven years old. The master Emile Boggio, a Venezuelan impressionist painter of great talent, became Raymond Thibésart's first teacher.
From 1897, member, then gold medallist of the ‘Société des Artistes français’, he regularly exhibited at the ‘Salon d'automne’ and the ‘Salon des indépendants’.
Among the main exhibitions:
1907, Galerie d’art contemporain, Paris. 1923, Galerie Knoedler, Paris. 1913 – 1927, Galerie Georges Petit, Paris. 1930, Galerie Ecalle, Paris. 1937 – 1941, Galerie Romanet, Paris, Alger. 1942 – 1965, Galerie des Champs-Élysées, Paris.
Abroad: Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Japan, and the U.S.A, where he exhibited for 5 years at the Wally Findlay gallery in New York and Palm Beach.
Six exhibitions took place at the Arte Moderno gallery in Caracas between 1969 and 1981
