After a painting/drawing of Giovanni Baptista Piazetta (1682-1754). He was a Venetian painter in the classical, rococo period.
Etching made by Marco Alvise Pitteri (1702-1786) in 1730-1742. In the lifetime of G.B. Piazetta.
He was an Italian engraver from Venice. He worked often with Giovanni Piazetta. He had his own engraving technique comparable to the technique of Claude Mellan.
His etchings have the light effect: clair-obscur.
Small size edition, very rare. From the rare series 'The Holy Family and Apostles' after Giovanni Battista Piazzetta.
Etching made ca 1730-1742.
Published in Venice ca 1730-1742.
In very good condition, good dark impression of this very rare engraving. Not found in many musea.
Printed on thin laid paper, trimmed in the margins, image complete.
Some traces of aging not disturbing.
Delivered in a museum passepartout.
