Jessica Ellen Hayllar (1858-1940) - A still life of dark red flowers
Öl auf Tafel - Handsigniert - 1909

I am offering for auction a superb and impressive early 20th century oil on board of a still life of red flowers, by sought after listed artist Jessica Ellen Hayllar, 1858-1940. Signed bottom right. This delightful painting measures 25.5 x 17 cm.

Jessica Hayllar’s record auction price is €178,000. Similar works to the one offered here don’t reach such dizzy heights but do demand a fairly good price.

Condition. In fairly good condition for age. Please view all images for accurate condition. Some light craquelure. Frame has some light wear. The painting could do with a light clean and there is some dirt under the glass. I haven’t done this myself as the painting has never been out of it since the day it as framed. Ready to hang and enjoy as it is.

Jessica Hayllar (1858-1940) exhibited for the first time at the Royal Academy in 1879, and then regularly until 1915. Most of her domestic scenes were performed in her father's house. In 1900, following an accident, she was paralyzed. After that she focused her painting on subjects of flowers, especially azaleas.

Please note. Due to the fragile nature of old frames and glass, our shippers do not provide compensation for any damage caused during transit. We go to great lengths to ensure each painting is packed and protected to a very high standard but sadly cannot compensate or refund for any damage occurring to frames or glass during transit.

Due to COVID and Brexit, there are delays at EU customs borders though the situation is improving. Please do not blame me for delays or any customs duty payable. I really appreciate your understanding and patience. Steve.
