7 volumes containing 926 letters of the correspondence of the Marquise de Sévigné, coated in bindings signed Niédrée, decorated on the first plates of the initials surmounted by a crown of the Baron of [Pierre Thomas de] Bosmelet after the ex-dono on the guard of volume 2 (see photo)

New edition, review with historical and genealogical notes published by Joseph Techener (French bibliophile and recognized publisher), given by Silvestre de Sacy, and dedicated to the Empress Eugénie (1826-1920) of the famous correspondence of the Marquise de Sévigné which tells us a lot about the backstage of the monarchy, the after-dinners and the treacheries of the court , pettiness and death, news stories, culture...

Bindings signed Niédrée, executed in icy fawn calf, back with nerves decorated with a rich décor in the style of the eighteenth century with golden irons, triple net of enc. on the dishes, all golden slices on mottling.

A decorative set. Sturdy bindings. The leather of volumes 3 and 6 is a little worn; small tears without gaps to the 2 caps (volumes 6 and 7) without gravity. Significant water stains in volumes 3 and 6 (see photos). The edges of the guard sheets of volumes 6 and 7 a little cropped. Scattered foxing. Sold as is.
