Red cloth binding with blind-stamped gilt title and white flag decoration on front cover and gilt title and flag motif to spine. Colour plates with captioned tissue guards.
Covers and spine a little faded and stained, a few chips and bumps to front cover edges and upper edge of spine a little frayed. The interior has a few stains and handling marks, several text pages have closed tears and the black & white plate facing p. 394 is creased along the fore edge. Otherwise clean with no spotting, no inscriptions or bookplates, binding holding firm. Overall very good condition.
A profusely illustrated description of Japanese society, daily life and cultural practices at the beginning of the 20th Century.
