Heilkunde - Anzahl: 1 - Handschriftlich unterzeichnet (ALS)

Very rare report entirely handwritten by the famous Italian doctor Pietro Betti.

The text is a preparatory report for the murder case against Pietro Buoninsegni at the court of Florence.

The text is a medical report: the murder took place due to a penetrating brain wound up to the left lateral ventricle.
Thanks to the 20 entirely handwritten pages it is possible to learn all the details of the case.

An absolute rarity.

Pietro Betti (Mangona, October 28, 1784 - Florence, April 11, 1863) was an Italian doctor.

He was born in 1784 in Mangona, a village in Mugello now under the municipality of Barberino, to Giuseppe Betti and Apollonia Corsini. After initial studies in literature at the Episcopal Seminary of Florence, he moved on to the study of physical and mathematical sciences combined with medicine at the University of Pisa, where he was a student of Francesco Vaccà. He completed his studies in Florence, obtaining his medical degree in 1809.

In 1824 he was assigned the teaching of surgical institutions. In his lectures he emphasized the importance for surgery of pathological anatomy, a branch of medical sciences that finds its origins from Antonio Benivieni in the 16th century to Paolo Mascagni. On October 31, 1828 he was given the chair of comparative anatomy, aided by Ferdinando Zannetti as dissector, i.e. in charge of anatomical dissections.
