´During the war years the British Ministry of War allegedly had Waterlow and Sons Ltd. in London make a forgery of the grey 1½ cent, for the British Intelligence Service. ´ The stamp was supposedly used for espionage purposes. This (official?) counterfeit was released without a watermark and with a perforation of 11. After the war, the unused copies appeared on the market" (NVPH 2021).
