Archäologie - Anzahl: 1 - Buch

First edition of this remarkable 18th century publication in Latin containing six treatises on Greek antiquities in the collection of the Nani family. Lovely copper-engraved iconography: the work is embellished with an engraved vignette on the title page, 6 in text engraved illustrations and 8 out of text engraved plates at the end.

The Nani Collection was established by Senator Bernardo Nani (1712-1761) and completed by his brother Jacopo (1725-97), and was the largest Venetian collection of its kind in the second half of the 18th century. This remarkable collection, focused on classical antiquity, was bequeathed to the Biblioteca Marciana in 1797.

Period paperboard binding.

Binding in worn condition, missing spine, the front joint is cracked and the cover is loose. Nice and fresh inside, very rare foxing.
