‘Francis Edward Younghusband (Murree, Punjab, Pakistan, 31 May 1863 - Lytchett Minster, Dorset, England, 31 July 1942) was a British explorer, best known for his travels in the Far East and his books about it. Younghusband was born to a British family in India. In 1886 he set out on an expedition in Manchuria. In southern Chinese Turkestan he discovered the Mustagh Pass, a connection between Kashgar and India. In 1902, he explored Tibet, about which little was known in the Western world. He then settled in Kashmir for several years.’
