The blade features a visible temper line (hamon) and comes housed in a black lacquered scabbard with a full set of matching fittings. The mounting includes a suede-wrapped hilt, an iron tsuba (sword guard), and menuki ornaments featuring a Kanei Tsuho coin design. The fittings show signs of age, contributing to the historical character of this piece. The sword comes with a copy of its Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate, as the original document will be returned to the authorities. According to the Firearms and Swords Registration Certificate issued in Okayama Prefecture (No. 117143), this is a wakizashi with a blade length of 44.8 cm and a curvature of 1 cm. It has one peg hole and is signed Fujiwara Sadakuni on the obverse. The certificate was issued on December 11, 2000 (Heisei 12). The blade has some areas of surface rust. The tsuba is slightly loose and shows rust and encrustation. Other metal parts also show tarnish and oxidation. The menuki have green verdigris corrosion. The lacquered scabbard has abrasions, small chips, and minor losses. Please inspect the photos carefully for condition details. The display stand is not included.
