Occasionally, the Tape Recorder Museum offers an object from its own collection. This time, it's a beautiful, serviced PHILIPS tape recorder from the late 1960s. The tape deck features the following features: - Single speed (9.5 cm/s) - Four tracks - Built in 1969 - Portable recorder with built-in amplifier/speaker - Includes dust cover - Can also be connected to an amplifier/computer - Includes a full and empty reel with music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s - Fun to play old tapes again or make beautiful new recordings yourself - The sound is wonderful; both recording and playback sound like new! The following work was carried out to restore the device to this condition: - Old, worn belts and their remains were removed and thoroughly cleaned - New drive belts were installed - Friction rubbers under the reel platters were also replaced - Switches and controls were cleaned to remove creaking and hissing noise - Rotating and moving parts: old grease was removed and re-greased or oiled This is a beautiful, iconic tape recorder that will last for years to come. The best quality recordings are achieved by using a new tape. Signs of wear are inherent to the device's age; see the photos.
