A fine terracotta Amlash oil lamp filler. It features a deep hemisphere bowl with a flattened base. From the bowl, a rounded, wide spout extends outwards. Earthly encrustations and signs of wear as consistent with age, such as minor scratches, chips, and surfacing pitting. Pottery vessels dated to the Late Bronze Age have been widely excavated across the Holy Land, indicating the close association between terracotta vessels and proto-urbanised life. During the Late Bronze Age, pottery bowls, with either sharp or gentle carination design, are believed to have imitated the early practices on metal wares. Most of the Bronze Age terracotta bowls from the Holy Land were made for daily purposes. Measurements: (circa) L 18cm x W 14cm Provenance: Ex London collection, formed pre 1992. N.B.
