If an item exceeds the specified size or weight, it may be shipped in multiple packages. ----- Signed Takishima Shigeru (1936-2008) Born on February 13, 1936, in Miyagi Prefecture, he began wood-turning training at sixteen under Takahashi Morio in Naruko. After leaving the trade once, he returned upon marriage into the Takishima family in 1967, opening his own workshop and starting kokeshi production. Together with his wife Sayo, who later painted the dolls, he continued the Takakan style until his death on December 8, 2008, at age seventy-three. Signed Takahashi Taketoshi (1951-) Born on July 16, 1951, in Naruko Onsen, Takahashi Taketoshi returned to his family’s Takakame shop in 1976 to begin wood-turning training after university and a year of company work. He learned mainly under his uncle Shōgo and started making kokeshi in April 1977, later becoming the primary craftsman after other makers left the workshop. After his father Takeo retired in 2000, he continued producing kokeshi and wooden toys alone, increasingly focusing on studying and recreating old Naruko forms. Set of 3 15-21cm Total 471g (A0660)
