Originally recorded live at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion in 1971 and released shortly after, Just Another Band From L.A. captures Frank Zappa and The Mothers in one of their most theatrical and humorous live performances. Featuring the lineup with Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman (Flo & Eddie), the album opens with the 20-minute epic “Billy the Mountain” — a hilarious rock suite blending satire, spoken dialogue, and virtuosic playing.
