-Ornamentation: A refined, Neoclassical-inspired design, where the emphasis is on the clean lines of the oval shape, finished only with a fine fillet or relief molding around the perimeter (typical of high-end tableware from leading brands of the period).
-Material: Alpaca silver-plated (German silver or Maillechort in France).

Small and medium trays: These feature maker's marks on the front of the rim:

*A second, elongated cartouche with the initials "EPSF" in Gothic script (Old English), where EP stands for Electro Plated and SF indicates the city of origin, Sheffield.
*Large tray: No visible marks (common on complementary pieces within the same dinnerware set).
