Beautiful vase, model Frankenthal, a classic shape based on designs by Hubert Fouarge from the period 1900-1910. This vase was cut in the by Graffart designed grinding pattern CG918, designed for the Art Deco collection of Val Saint Lambert of the year 1947. This copy is made in the rare colour ‘Violet’.
‘Violet’ is a sought-after, modern and rare colour. Besides the three classic colours (emerald-green, ruby-red and cobalt-blue), Val Saint Lambert also offers a collection of other colours: China-green, Japanese-yellow, Violet and Amethyst.
The vase is in perfect condition. Height 165 mm.
This vase is made of crystal with a lead content of approx. 33-40%, which is a lot higher than the legally determined 24%. It gives the piece a gorgeous quality and brilliance. The technique to make this bicoloured crystal is called doubling: the form is mouthblown of clear crystal and after resting the crystal, it is doubled (also referred to as ‘bubbled’) with prune crystal. Then the prune crystal is cut back, exposing the clear crystal again. Subsequently, the facets are cut and the last step is a polishing with lava rock and a linen cloth. This labour-intensive process produces a marvellous result of the highest quality.
The lot will be thoroughly packaged and shipped with insurance in fitting (possibly double) packaging.
