Description from the seller
Andy Warhol portrayed Prince Charles (the current Charles III) and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1982, shortly after their high-profile wedding, using his characteristic screen-printing technique. These works, often exhibited as a diptych, turned the royal couple into pop icons, following Warhol's style of transforming celebrities into commercial art.
Key details of the portrait of Charles by Warhol:
Creation: Created in 1982, one year after the royal wedding.
Style: Ink on canvas with vibrant colors and the screen-printing technique in the pop art style.
History: Although initially conceived as a gift to the couple, the portraits were sold to a private collector.
Later Sale: In 2011, London's Opera Gallery put the diptych of Charles and Diana up for sale for 2 million pounds. There are few units available on the market.
The work is in perfect condition, never exhibited. With original protective sleeve. With copyright Andy Warhol Foundation. Made on high-quality, dense paper, heavy weight and a glossy satin finish. Dimensions 43 x 34 cm. It is shipped perfectly protected and with a tracking code.
