Virginia Rivas – Madrid 1981
The University of Extremadura has fueled her interest in the versatility between visual and plastic (sculptural) media. She currently pursues her career from Hervás (Cáceres), with training at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Salamanca, the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, and her hometown, where she returned in 2014 after working for a year as an artist/teacher at the University of Udine (Italy) with a Grundtvig scholarship.
She works with painting, video and installation, media that explore the connection between the individual and the environment and create a sociological discourse from an intimate perspective. She is interested in the viewer as an active agent: their involvement, interpretation and interaction with the work and the space. She analyzes the social landscape through light, color and sound, an artistic practice she pairs with workshops and lectures.
Represented by DDR Art Gallery and Adora Calvo Gallery. Member and founding member of AVAEX Visual Artists and Associates of Extremadura // Member of BNM Blanco, Negro y Magenta, Association of Women Artists of Madrid.
