Fault Line — Gilded Rift belongs to the Fault Line series, an exploration of fracture as a symbol of strength, transformation and revealed beauty.
In this work, darkness dominates the canvas like a deep, silent and almost mineral space. On that black background, a diagonal crack appears in textured gold, crossing the composition like a precious vein discovered in rock. The line is not clean or uniform: it has relief, irregularity and matter, as if it had emerged from the interior of the surface.
I wanted the gold to function as contained energy, a light that breaks the density of black without destroying it. The work speaks of contrast: shadow and glow, rupture and value, stillness and movement. The golden crack does not represent a wound, but a revelation; that which opens to reveal something deeper, more valuable and more powerful.
Texture is essential in the piece. The rough edges, the layers of black and the metallic glints make the work change with the light. Close up, the material, the relief and the richness of the gold are perceived; from afar, the composition becomes round, elegant and architectural.
