Eusebio Sempere (1923-1985)

One of the most interesting figures on the Spanish art scene in the second half of the 20th century. He is the most internationally renowned artist from Alicante and one of Spain's most authentic representatives of geometric abstraction and optical and kinetic trends.

His work is the result of continuous and rigorous work on geometry, movement and optical illusion, in which he also develops, through composition and form, a lyrical poetics of singular beauty.

His work was selected for the Spanish pavilion at the 6th Sao Paolo Biennial (1961). He has received awards such as the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts and the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts (1983).
