AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare and unusually decorated blue-and-white Chinese porcelain tea caddy, made in Jingdezhen during the Kangxi period (1662–1722). The vessel is decorated with four panels: two featuring large flowers and two with a “squirrel and grape” motif. The latter panels each depict two squirrels, one with its head partially hidden. The decoration is executed in a lovely deep blue. The silver mount is marked with a sword and the letters VK with a crescent moon. This is the maker’s mark of the Dutch manufacturing firm Fa. J.M. Kempen & Zn., active between 1858 and 1924. Overall, very high quality and of large size.

Condition: excellent, with only a small production flaw in foot ring (see photographs).

Origin: private Dutch collection

Dimensions: 24,6 cm (height) cm; 6,6 x 6,6 (square foot) cm
