Description from the seller
Joaquim Pancho was born in Angola, in 1970, in the city of Luanda, having come to Portugal with his parents at the age of 5, and currently residing in Cascais.
Self-taught from a young age, he has always shown aptitude for the plastic arts, with his painting inspired by the Impressionism of the 19th century, referencing the works of Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, Renoir, as well as Joseph Zbukvic, Alvaro Castagnet, Herman Pekel and Amanda Hyatt.
He is currently active, seeking in his works to capture beauty, light and harmony in both landscapes and figurative subjects, with several solo and group exhibitions, at both national and international levels.
In 2023, his work was mentioned in ART4ANY magazine No. 16, September 2023 edition, with illustrations of some of his works.
On December 5, 2025, he received a certificate of merit at the event Artistas da Europa 2025, held at Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista di Venezia, in Venice, organized by PitturiAmo.
On March 13, 2026, he received a second certificate of merit at the event Prémio Brera 26, held in Milan, organized by PitturiAmo.

Description of the work: Elevadores de Lisboa — watercolour featuring two yellow lifts descending a steep street between narrow façades. The translucent light creates cool shadows on the ground and highlights the warm yellow of the elevators, while wires and rooftops delineate the urban geometry. With an inclined perspective and loose brushwork, the painting suggests movement and rhythm; small human figures reinforce the scale and presence of the city. The fine washes and the transparencies give delicacy to the architectural details without losing the energy of the scene. Perfect for those who appreciate urban landscapes filled with color, it is an elegant addition to your space.
